The slope lies waiting, the street sits quietly…..suddenly all things will explode with a burst of colour, sounds, foods and smells. An incredible infusion of fun, racing and frivolity are going to hit Gresford on Easter Saturday.
Street stalls, fun fair, food stands and of course the highlight The Gresford Billy Cart Derby. Many carts have entered the race in the past and this year 2010 is no exception. If you need an entry form and specs for your speed machine check out the entry details link above.
Over 30 street stalls offering all manner of goods, pot plants, food, bric-a-brac, clothing etc are expected to create a fantastic street market atmosphere up and down Park Street, and in the carparks of both the Hotel Beatty and the Gresford Bowling Club.
The gumboot throwing and Cow Clump Lotto will operate in convenient locations, all close to the billy cart racing action. A myriad of prizes will be on offer with the Chocolate Wheel which will be spinning throughout the day.
Racing will kick off at 9.30am with street stalls operating from 9.00am. Merry-go-rounds, pony rides and a jumping castle will be there to entertain the kids. The Gresford Cricket Club & Fire Brigade will provide a barbeque lunch. Local shops, other charities and organisations will provide icecreams, sandwiches, drinks, devonshire teas, hot dogs etc. And both the Gresford Bowling Club and the Hotel Beatty will be open for drinks and bistro lunches throughout the day.
These events only take place through the generosity of spirit in this wonderful valley. So come along and have a great day out with your family and friends.
